Stoma- und Inkontinenzberatung

Maria Putz, Specialist nurse for stoma and incontinence issues
Stoma

Life is also worth living with a stoma!

Someone who becomes a stoma patient as a result of his/her personal situation is beset by numerous fears. The profound effect on how the patient perceives his/her body, confrontation with the diagnosis and the effects on his/her his environment represent an extreme situation for anyone affected. Close contact with and confidence in the stoma therapist along with well-coordinated collaboration between doctors and nursing staff prior to and after the operation are very important in order to give each patient the individual support he/she needs. I can offer the following services and counselling:
  • Comprehensive counselling and information prior to a scheduled operation
  • Primary management and selection of the best possible product
  • Guidance on managing your stoma yourself
  • Nutritional advice
  • Information about leisure-time activities
  • Discussion and clarification of all questions and concerns connected with a stoma
  • Transition to competent specialist after-care
  • Irrigation treatment
  • Advisory service in case of stoma complications – also after discharge from hospital – (of course also for patients who did not have the operation at our clinic)

Faecal and urinary incontinence

We refer to incontinence when faeces and urine cannot be eliminated in a controlled manner. Elimination occurs at an unsuitable time in an inappropriate place.

Incontinence should not be a taboo topic!

Approximately 4 million people in Germany suffer from incontinence. The majority of those people do not talk about the issue and resort to using inappropriate means due to lack of knowledge. Most of them could be helped with discrete and competent advice. I can offer you the following services:

  • Counselling on care issues
  • Guidance on toilet training
  • Intermittent catheterisation
  • Guidance on anal irrigation
  • Product information and counselling
  • Nutritional advice

The important thing is for you to address your problem!
