Dear readers,

We would like to give you an overview about the scope of medical treatment offered by the Department of Urology, one of a total of seven departments all accommodated within Caritas Hospital St. Josef.

The Department of Urology is affiliated to Regensburg University as a professorate. As scientific research and teaching are firmly established within our department, our patients enjoy an unusually high medical standard. Treatment is always state of the
art – at the very highest university level.

We attach especial importance to interdisciplinary collaboration with the other departments in our hospital. The scope of services we offer is extremely broad – an unusually large number of procedures are available as regards both treatment and diagnostics. Especially as regards urological oncology (e.g. cancer of the prostate) we are in a position to utilise the entire spectrum of state of the art procedures.

The focus on minimally invasive procedures (such as laparoscopy) is ideally suited to promote successful treatment – with a minimum of undesirable side-effects.

Our in- and outpatients enjoy the best possible care around the clock – both from me, personally, and from our competent team of urological medical specialists headed by Assistant Medical Director Prof. Dr. med. Wolfgang Roessler.

Care and attention in both medical and human terms, coupled with the very latest medical technology, are equally important when it comes to caring for our patients on a daily basis.
